About Us

History

The original Waverly Beach was built right here in 1886 by Peter Massonette. Over the years it has offered a variety of activities. It opened as a resort on the route of the electric railway and served primarily as a swimming destination and dance hall drawing huge crowds nightly. Admission was only 5¢ for men and ladies were always free.

The new Waverly Ballroom opened its doors in 1960 hosting big bands from and around the country including the famous Guy Lombardo, Benny Goodman, and Tommy Dorsey. From 1960 to 1995 the property also had a boat yard, outdoor volleyball court, and a small building for private parties.

In 1924 the wooden Jack Rabbit Roller Coaster arrived. A zoo featuring monkeys and a penny arcade entertained all. In the 40’s and 50’s the roller rink, dance hall, custard stand, and amusement park were the talk of the town. It was a destination of family fun with 10¢ rides, 25¢ hamburgers, and 5¢ ice cream cones.

In 2005, the popular Tiki Bar was built bringing fun and entertainment back outside with fun for the entire family, and soon after, the volleyball court was transformed into the Grand Ballroom, which today is known for hosting beautiful banquets and weddings. Then in the summer of 2021, Waverly Beach was added to the “Anduzzi’s Sports Club” family. In the spring of 2022, the facility underwent a major remodel with the goal of enhancing the existing business through an exciting addition, a new menu and new entertainment options, returning Waverly Beach to the destination hub it once was.
